Task board

Gaps become assigned follow-up work.

A missing affidavit is not a note in someone’s inbox. It is a task with an owner, a due date, and a pointer back to the exact event that needs it.

Where tasks come from

Every task knows why it exists.

Task lists decay when nobody remembers why an item was added. MatterGraph keeps each task linked to the event, document, or question that generated it, so its purpose survives staff turnover and long matters.

That link runs both ways: completing a task closes the gap on the timeline, and the evidence checklist updates without anyone reconciling two systems by hand.

  • An evidence gap requests the document that would close it
  • A contradiction flag requests the clarification that would resolve it
  • A follow-up question becomes a task when it needs chasing
  • A paralegal can add work manually, tracked the same way

Task status

Including the state most boards forget.

Legal work stalls on other people. The board distinguishes between work you owe and work you are owed.

  • todo

    Ready to be picked up.

  • in_progress

    Actively being worked.

  • waiting_on_client

Blocked pending something only the client can provide.

  • waiting_on_firm

Blocked pending an internal review or decision.

  • completed

Done, with the resulting record linked.

  • blocked

Cannot proceed, with the reason recorded rather than implied.

Across matters

A paralegal does not work one case at a time.

One board, every matter

Work is grouped by what needs doing rather than by which file it belongs to, with the case shown on each row.

Priority that reflects the case

Firm-set priorities and due dates distinguish urgent review from routine collection work.

Visible to the attorney

Attorneys can see what is outstanding on a matter without asking for a status update.

Test the workflow on a representative matter.

Start with a synthetic or fully redacted matter. An initial evaluation does not require live client data.
